Driving Whilst Impaired By Drug – Fine, No Conviction

Our client was charged with Driving Whilst Impaired By Drug after he was caught by the police driving across the road into oncoming traffic. The circumstances surrounding this event was likely to result in a large amount of fine and a licence disqualification period that could well exceed the mandatory minimum period of 12 months.

We acted on the client’s behalf at the Ringwood Magistrates’ Court.

Prior to his plea, we closely coordinated with the client to review the brief and come up with submissions that focused on his lack of priors and genuine remorse over the offending. We especially emphasised on his insight to his offence, as well as highlighted his work history and career ambitions.

Our client ultimately received the lowest possible penalty considering the circumstances of the case. The magistrate sentenced him without conviction to a fine and his licence disqualified for a period of 12 months.
